Husband and wife duo, Mark and Laurie McWilliams, are passionate about creating beautiful spaces.
“Whether you dream of extending your living space out into the yard or simply want to bring a bit of the outdoors in, there’s just something about nature that is rejuvenating,” the couple insists.
With more than twenty years of experience in the gardening and landscape industry, the McWilliams are master designers and CopperTree Outdoor Lifestyles reflects their impeccable attention to detail, design and service.
Mark McWilliams, a Registered Landscape Architect and Illinois Certified Nurseryman Pro with over 25 years of landscape industry experience, has served as Vice President of Retail Operations and purchasing agent for a multimillion dollar corporation, managing retail operations at multiple company locations.
During his extensive business travels, Mark studied the industry’s leading retail and landscaping services, building his reputation as an industry expert and contributing to several projects that earned national landscaping awards.
Mark speaks publicly at national trade shows and educational forums and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Project and Design Committee for Springfield Green. He is a member of the Illinois Nurseryman’s Association and chairman of their Landscape Committee.
Laurie McWilliams is also an award-winning designer, having earned four seasonal merchandising awards from the Illinois Nurseryman’s Association. She specializes in the creation of residential and commercial container designs.
With more than a decade of experience. Laurie has served as a corporate merchandiser for five retail operations and as a corporate buyer for garden décor and furniture. She is also an Illinois Certified Nursery pro, member of the INA and serves on their Communications Committee.
Laurie is also a member of the Design Committee for Springfield Green.
Recent Awards/Recognitions
Coppertree was recently named to the list of Top 100 Garden Center Retailers for 2008 in a trade magazine published nationally called 'Today's Garden Center'.
They also won 3 awards from the Illinois Green Industry Association - two Silvers and an Honorable mention for excellence in Retail Merchandising in a competition with other garden centers throughout the state.
Together, the McWilliams have been contributing designers for the Illinois Nurseryman’s Association gold medal award-winning garden at the “2006 Chicago Flower & Garden Show". Additionally, they have received three awards from the Mayor of Springfield, Illinois for outstanding involvement in the Springfield Green effort and participated in award winning renovation and design in downtown Springfield.
The McWilliams were the designers of the City of Springfield’s downtown containers for 2006 and donated the design and installation of additional containers within the city at MacArthur and South Grand.
