Jonathan Shuff is a fine art photographer living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has been creating images with a camera for over 18 years, and enjoys the challenge of capturing the natural beauty that is found all around us.
His latest work involves capturing ultra high resolution digital scans of three dimensional objects like flowers and leaves with a modified flatbed scanner. Jonathan combines the series of digital scans in the computer into one single image that has incredibly sharp details and vivid colors.
In 2001, Jonathan was awarded the Grand Prize in the National Geographic Society and Ford Motor Company Escape competition and traveled to South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe with National Geographic Expeditions. In 2002, he was awarded First Place in the Ritz Camera Company National Nature Photography competition.
Jonathan's water abstract titled The Rapids was voted People's Choice Award at the 2006 Festival of the Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The piece was also awarded three other awards in the Festival Art Competition including the ILF Executive Committee Award, the LRC Award, and the Warner Norcross & Judd purchase award.
Jonathan participates in over 30 art festivals and shows each year around the country. His working studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan features a permanent gallery showroom of new work as well as custom matting and framing facilities.
Jonathan is currently completing his first hard cover book which will be the first in a series of coffee table books on the State of Michigan.
